T4 W3 Writing reflection

Writing : This week since it was Halloween on Wednesday, our class got to do Horror Narrative Writing .  I really enjoyed writing these because they are so fun. To make a good piece of Narrative writing  you need to use detailed and descriptive words. I haven't finished mine yet but here is what I have so far.  

Truth or dare? It all started with a dare from my best friend Ella. It was a late Friday night and Ella and I were walking to the shop to collect some items for tea. We came across a dark narrow street and decide to see where it heads to. We found an old abandoned house at the the end of the dark street, there are no street lights so we had to use our phone torches for light. The house is covered in spiderwebs and smells like it’s rotting with mold and dampness. Suddenly Ella says I dare you to go in there. I am scared but a dare is a dare. As I walk up to the door I can feel a shiver running through me like I've just been shocked with electricity.  The door creaks loudly as I enter the building. The first thing I see is a long dark corridor with dust and rubble covering the floor. It’s deathly silent as I cautiously walk towards the gleaming light through the crack in the ceiling. I hear weird repeating whispering sounds as I walk down the hallway. The door slams shut as I slowly make my way round the house.  

 

Writing an exposition / argument

In writing we have just started learning about cause and effect which is a action that leads to a consequence . We have also been creating a scaffold for our writing which is the bare bones of an argument. Here is my word bank that we can use for our writing. 

Report writing

This week we have been given a task on report success criteria. I worked with Emma and we come up with a way to present our work.

Reflections W5 T2

Reading: This  is my follow up for reading. My goal is to  Infer and support which means to answer questions that have not been said. I found this easy because I know how to answer questions.    

Activity 1 : This is my 2nd reading activity. My task was to read both of the story's highlighted and then answer the questions. 

Numeracy: This is my maths task. I had to peer up with a partner and do peer assessing. We had to watch each others screen cast's and then rate them out of fifteen. I got 15/15.

 

 

Writing: This is my Charlotte's web activity. My task was to write a newspaper article like it was a real article going in the news paper. I interviewed Mr Zuckerman.

I also created a screencast showing the punctuation game we have used this week.

 I also learnt that you need trees around to to keep the water cool and fresh.

Click  the door opened.  people were laughing. yum I said as I ran past the roasting marshmallows over the fire.My view of the the waves thrashing on the water was amazing .It was the best time to be at the Rapahoe beach.The smooth sand on my paws was a soft yellow blanket.

Matariki Legend

A long time ago in a land Faraway lived a beautiful girl with long blond hair.

Her name was Rapunzel .She lived with her evil step mum Leanne (you know it is quite a nice name for a horrible lady).

One day a prince came along and heard a lovely voice coming from a tall tower. It was Rapunzel. She saw him and fell in love. She let down her long blond hair and the prince climbed up. They instantly fell in love.

What they didn’t know was Leanne was coming up the elevator. When Leanne got up she was so angry she pushed the prince off the balcony. For Rapunzel’s punishment her step mom cut her hair into 7 pieces because her mum’s favorite number is 7. Leanne was still angry that she threw her 7 pieces that she had cut up into the sky.

But from now on when her step mum looked at the sky she knew that she was a bit mean to Rapunzel.They are only in the sky because leanne cut her hair in winter. Now every winter Rapunzel will get a haircut and her mum will throw her hair in the sky

Boy on a bike

First we read a story called ‘Boy on a Bike’ written by Bronwen Wall. It was about a boy travelling the length of the North Island, on a fat bike, to raise money for the St John Ambulance service.

fat bike = it can be used on mud, water, gravel ,sand practically anything .

… It was a dark and cold night i can hear people yelling get out you stupid fox.

I saw  a fence i dove under it I was horrified. I ran into the woods. A little girl  followed me.

I ran! she ran! I sprinted! she sprinted! it was weird. I was so hungry  i could eat anything. She caught me i was horrified. I didn't know what she was going to do but then  she let me go i ran away in to the woods i looked at her she looked at me i hid suddenly  She fainted! i decided to help her . After a while She woke up. I was spinning  around her to keep her warm. In the morning we woke up. I ran i could hear something it was her parents calling her, her mum picked her up and took her away.

There once were 39 men who lay dead on the battle grounds;

Around the crosses row by row that marked our place in heaven
Surround by poppies in our grave remembering the 39 solders in World War 1 .
